A long time ago, I made the mistake of buying one of the basic gaming chairs for $100. It had a footrest, which made it seem great. However, after doing research I can now publicly say most gaming chairs are a complete scam and not even worth your time.
In addition to that, they are not ergonomic – and never will be. Your best options these days are ergonomic chairs. They are good for your back, and promote good posture. Let’s face it – sitting is not good for you. It never will be.
If you’re sitting all day in a chair, you should at least use something that will promote good health. Not only that, over 98% of the gaming chairs you find on amazon are all the same. Companies buy them, and strap a logo onto them making you believe they made them. They did not. They are made from cheap materials. In a worst case scenario, the piston could fail someday. You don’t want that, it will basically give you a free prostate exam.
So, what are the better options? Here are my suggestions:
Steelcase Leap v2
Considered a great chair, the Steelcase Leap v2 is almost perfect for anyone. It has adjustable back support and lumbar, as well as 360 armrests and even a tilt function. Be aware that the lumbar support is a bit more extreme here. However, you can easily remove it. This is my personal chair I use everyday.
Hermin Miller Aeron
This is one of the best chairs you can get, and the price proves it. However, thankfully you can still find these refurbished. The chair is completely mesh, making it breathable and conforming to your body easily. It also comes it three different sizes, for all sorts of people. It also has adjustable lumbar, arms, and also has a tilt function. If you want to save over $1,000 you can also find these on eBay from certified chair resellers.
